Independence, Kentucky is home to a lot of annual community events and most are free and all are family friendly. Fabulous firework shows, concerts, and movies throughout the summer are plenty. Some of the City of Independence sponsored events are the Easter Egg Hunt, Memorial Day Parade, the 4th of July Celebration, and the Christmas Walk. People also flock to the Independence Farmers' Market open from May through October at 8:30 am to 1:00 pm, the Kenton County Farm Tour held every September, the St. Cecilia Labor Day Weekend Festival held on Labor Day Weekend, and the St. Barbara Rocktoberfest and the Drug Odyssey Haunted House held in October.

Police: Missing Independence teenager found safe

INDEPENDENCE, Ky. -- A missing teen has been found safe, Kenton County police reported Saturday. Police had requested the public’s help locating William Littleton, whom they believed may have been in danger. Littleton was last seen Friday at Simon Kenton High School, police wrote in a Facebook post, and had recently made comments that caused others to be concerned for his safety. Read more here

Middleton-Mills Park in Independence KY
